Mogo P.S is fortunate in being part of the Department's dedicated strategy for improving literacy and numeracy skills, Early Action for Success.
Early Action for Success focuses on students in kindergarten through to Year 3 and has key features that allow a targeted approach to learning including; personalised learning, assessment for learning, targeted interventions, high quality professional learning and Instructional leadership support.
Language, Learning and Literacy (L3) is the basis for learning. Students participate in daily reading and writing lessons in small groups that are designed to meet their specific needs. L3 supports the learning of reading, writing, listening and speaking through strong instruction in phonological awareness, word recognition, word analysis, text structure analysis and phrasing in fluent reading.
Teachers and the Instructional Leader work together to continuously review student progress in both literacy and numeracy by analysing work samples created by students.
Each 5 weeks, a thorough review is given to the data collected and this enables teachers to adjust and adapt specific teaching plan for each student so that success in meeting key syllabus outcomes can be made.
